Friends of Butts Close is a group of local residents and Close users that support the conservation and amenity value of this historic common. You can join the group by emailing buttsclose@gmail.com.
They produce four or five newsletters each year, and we have provided links to them below.

They are worth reading both for topical issues and for snippets of information and history. For example see the story of Buffalo Bill’s visit to Hitchin in 1904 in their Newsletter (March 2016) and the history of longbow archery on the Close in their Newsletter of April 2017.
