Previous Airport report May 2023. London Luton Airport Limited is attempting to obtain permission to increase its passenger cap to 19 million passengers per year. This is its fourth attempt to relax noise conditions imposed when it achieved permission to increase passenger numbers to 18mppa, which have already been breached due to unrestrained demand-led expansion. And then .... For a period from 10th March to 5th May, one of our members volunteered to host to a portable noise monitor supplied by Luton airport. The aim was to investigate the noise impact in Hitchin due to aircraft departing from Luton in an easterly direction and flying close to or over the town. The Report has just been issued Click here - Hitchin noise baseline May 2022  The September / October edition of our Newsletter contains an airport update which will include a discussion of the results and what it implies about the way in which the airport uses noise data.
