A consultation is being organised by NHDC and the Countryside Mangement Service to produce a ‘Greenspace Action Plan’ (GAP) for this site.
TheĀ Briefing Document & Map is available here. Feedback on the first phase is required before September 25th.
The site is an old landfill and now houses a football pitch. A delightful path runs along the River Hiz on one side, where a kingfisher can be sighted. An unofficial path runs from the far end through to the Bury Mead Nature Reserve and Gerry’s Hole beyond.
Hitchin Forum’s townwide litter pick has helped clean up the area, most memorable being the work in the river.
We will be submitting thoughts about this and would welcome input from anyone who knows and values the area – send comments to footpaths@hitchinforum.org.uk
or directly to Ellie Beach at Countryside Management Services (details on the Briefing Document).
